Who we are

Forage and Fodder was birthed by Heather and Tomas who, after spending years in the forest together, wanted to share the benefits with others in their community. The pair live and breathe the natural world, growing their own food, foraging as a way of life, making their own medicine, wildcrafting and sharing their knowledge and passion with those around them. They are avid volunteers in the community and have called Squamish home for over 8 years.

“We would like to acknowledge that we live and work on the the unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, which includes the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.”

Tomas was born in the Czech Republic, where mushroom foraging is the national sport. A tradesman by day, he works with his hands and loves being creative. He has been honing his wildcrafting skills and expanding his knowledge base year after year in the Pacific Northwest. His interests include geography and topography, backcountry adventure, hiking, gardening, woodworking and spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors.

Heather grew up in eastern Canada and transplanted eight years ago to follow her brother and a calling for the west coast. She has an entrepreneurial spirit and a hospitality and culinary background. She has been intentionally studying wild plants and herbs for over 10 years and has been growing and preserving her own food and medicine in her family tradition since she was young. Having focused primarily on physical wellness, she is currently studying the mind and spirit connection and how nature can provide healing on other levels.
